Our waste belongs on the land and it’s natural recycling. It’s what nature does, so we use Solar PV  and other green deal initiatives.

Janaia: How do you go about doing that? People are going to wonder is this a stinky, are there flies, whatever kind of thing?

Gord: When I met Ann she was a little bit scared to tell me that she had a composting toilet system.

Janaia: She might not, you know, this might not continue. All right.

Ann: He was instantly sold.

Gord: I was instantly sold. Ann had been given a book by Joseph Jenkins. It was called The Humanure Handbook.

Janaia: Say that slower. The Humanure Handbook. Human manure, OK.

Gord: Joseph Jenkins is from the US. He has put together a great book with science, philosophy, examples, and a how-to book. It’s a great read. Basically what it works off of is you don’t have flush.
